Molokini is widely considered to be a world-class snorkeling destination. Because of its unique crescent shape, it is protected from high winds offering calm waters and vibrant underwater life.

As one of only three volcanic calderas in the world, Molokini boasts more than 250 different species of flourishing marine life in incredibly clear water with visibility of more than 150 feet.

Molokini Crater is a partially submerged volcanic crater that features some of the clearest water for snorkeling anywhere in the world.

The islet’s concave shape protects divers from waves and strong currents. You will be fascinated by 250 diverse species in a tropical sanctuary that is used to and comfortable with swimmers, which yields ample opportunity to capture some great underwater photos.

Turtle Town is made up of underwater lava formations and a beautiful coral reef that is animated by a wealth of colorful fishes, sea stars, and many other aquatic beauties.

As you splash into an ocean of fun at Turtle Town, you will be welcomed by one of Maui’s most gentle residents, the majestic Hawaiian green sea turtles.

Turtle Town is known for its high population of Hawaiian green sea turtles. The area is protected from the high trade winds giving way to easy and relaxing snorkeling.

With SNUBA diving, you’ll enjoy the unique experience of weightlessness while swimming with amazingly beautiful marine life in a safe, controlled environment, about 15 feet below the surface, under the watchful care of our expert Maui SNUBA instructors.

SNUBA diving requires no prior experience or special talents at all. You just have to be at least 8 years of age and in average health.

Molokini Crater truly is a snorkelers paradise with a unique ecosystem boasting over 250 different species of fish, many endemic to the Hawaiian islands. The underwater life at Molokini is wonderful and abundant. Molokini offers unsurpassed crystal clear water with visibility often more than 100 feet. Some of the colorful coral at Molokini is found nowhere else on the planet.

Please note: Turtles will be seen only at Turtle Town, however, sightings cannot be guaranteed as they are wildlife.

What does the trip include?

We offer a 5-hour Snorkel Adventure that heads out to both Molokini Crater and Turtle Town. We provide our guests with a continental breakfast, BBQ lunch, an open bar, all of your snorkel gear, and flotation devices. Please keep in mind that we also offer SNUBA.

Are we going to 2 snorkel locations?

Yes, if the weather permits we’ll be heading out to both Molokini Crater and Turtle Town.

What is the difference between the Molokini snorkel tours for Pride of Maui and Leilani?

While both boats and tours are equally accomplished at showcasing the incredible beauty and snorkeling at Molokini — aboard the Pride of Maui, you’ll enjoy more space and amenities, which include a jumbo slide! Aboard the Leilani, you’ll enjoy fewer passengers and more personalized experience.

How long does it take to get to Molokini?

It takes about 45min-1hr from our harbor in Maalaea to the Molokini Crater.

Will we see turtles?

It’s very likely that we’ll see turtles, however, it’s not a guarantee being that they are wildlife. But we’ll take you out to a location that they’re often seen at. Please note: Turtle sightings are common at Turtle Town, but there are no turtles at Molokini.

Is this just a SNUBA trip?

This is a Molokini Snorkel Adventure that offers our guests the opportunity to also do SNUBA all on one trip.

Do you allow full-face snorkel masks on your trips?

We do not allow full-face snorkels masks. For more information, please read our snorkeling safety tips regarding snorkel masks.

What happens if we can’t make it to Molokini Crater?

If we can’t make it to Molokini Crater our Captain will always make sure to get you folks out to another beautiful snorkel destination. Safety is always our number one priority and we want you to be safe and comfortable in the water at all times.

How deep is it?

It’s about 70ft at Molokini Crater and 30ft at Turtle Town.

How long is this tour?

5 hours from 8AM-1PM

Where do you leave from?

Maalaea Harbor North Dock (Left of the US Coast Guard)

Is it colder in the morning?

The water temperature stays around 70 degrees year round but if you find that to be too cold for you, we do have wetsuits available on board for you to rent for $10 (cash).

What time is check-in?

7:30am

Why can’t I just book SNUBA?

SNUBA is an optional upgrade that we offer on our Molokini & Turtle Town Snorkel Adventure. But this is not just a SNUBA trip.

Are there bathrooms available?

Yes, there are 2 restrooms (heads) on board.

Where does this tour go?

Molokini Crater (Marine Reserve) and Turtle Town

What does the SNUBA upgrade entail?

Purchasing (1) SNUBA upgrade is for one location only. If guests would like to SNUBA at both Molokini and Turtle Town, the upgrade will need to be purchased for each location.

What are the Snorkel Destinations?

Morning Tour – Molokini Crater and Turtle Town scheduled stops, but weather dependent

Afternoon Tour – Turtle Town; Olowalu, Coral Gardens, or Molokini Crater (completely weather dependent)

How far out is it?

Molokini is about 9 miles offshore (1 hr boat ride). About an hour boat ride for the other destinations too. Olowalu may take a little longer.

Will we see whales?

While we cannot guarantee whale sightings on the Molokini & Turtle Town Snorkel; during whale season (Dec. – March) it is a possibility that whales will be seen!

BEST part of our honeymoon!
My wife and I had never been snorkeling before and honestly could not have had a better experience! The staff was super friendly and helpful, and had us up and snorkeling in Molokini in no time. The views were spectacular! When we went to Turtle Town, we saw/swam with no less than 5 or 6 turtles. Back on the boat, the food was tasty and we enjoyed ourselves with a few local Maui brews. 10/10 would recommend and the next time we are in Maui, we are 100% doing this exact tour again.

Pride of Maui was amazing!
Pride of Maui was amazing! The crew was perfect and their Molokini/Turtle Town Snorkel was spot on and exactly what we were looking for! Solid breakfast and lunch, plus free open bar on the way back is also a plus. Definitely recommend Pride of Maui for anyone!!!

Perfect day of snorkeling.
We had a group of 6, and all of us had an amazing time. The crew was awesome and super friendly, and even the captain was more than happy to have a full conversation on the Geology of the region while he was driving the boat. The water was crystal clear and there were tons of sea life to see. I recommend swimming to the more shallow areas to see the most detail in the coral and sea life. The food and drinks on board were delicious.
